In short: we only collect what we need to welcome and support you, we keep it safe, we never sell it, and you can ask us to change or delete it at any time.
Note for editors (delete before launch): have this policy reviewed by someone with legal knowledge. Confirm who the "data fiduciary" is (VSI or Beyond Eyes Foundation as host), name the person to contact, and fill in the retention periods.
This policy follows the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
Who looks after your data
Vision Support India, hosted by Beyond Eyes Foundation, "[TO"]. For any question about your data, contact [TO CONFIRM: name and role] at nishikantpanda281@gmail.com or call [Help line number to be added].
What we collect, and why
- Registration: name, mobile number and whether it is on WhatsApp, email (optional), town, state, age group, membership type, interest circles, preferred language, and how you heard of us. We use these to welcome you, invite you to the WhatsApp community, circles and events, and understand who we reach.
- How your vision affects you (optional): if you choose to tell us, we use it only to suggest the right circle and resources. Only the membership team can see it.
- Children: a child under 18 is registered by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for them. We record the parent or guardian's name.
- Call-back requests, volunteer, partner and contact forms: the details you give, to reply to you.
- Event registration: your details and any access needs, to welcome you at the event.
- Newsletter: your email address, to send you news.
Consent
You give consent when you submit a form. You can withdraw consent at any time, for example to leave VSI or stop the newsletter, by contacting us. We will then delete your details, unless the law requires us to keep them.
Who can see your data
Only the VSI team members who need it: for example the Membership and Data working group for registrations, and the help line team for call-backs. They access it through a password-protected system. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing.
We use trusted service providers to run the website, email and WhatsApp messages (such as our web host), only for these purposes.
If you join our WhatsApp community, other members of a group may see your name and number. This is how WhatsApp works. You can leave a group at any time.
